DESCRIPTION, LOCATION & ADMINISTRATION

The Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC) Library Hub is a type of special government library which provides special services in local governance. It has a network of physical libraries and serves as a repository of knowledge products, both in print, electronic and digital format. To perform all the basic function of a library, a fully cloud based Koha Integrated Library System was implemented.

Network of Physical Libraries

a. LGNRC Main and Satellite Library

The network of physical libraries is hosted by the Local Government Academy (LGA). It has two libraries, a main and a satellite library. The main library of Local Governance National Resource Center (LGNRC) is located in the main office of LGA at 9/F Floor, Agustin I Building, F. Ortigas Jr. Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig City while the satellite library is located at the Local Government Academy Training Center (LGATC) in Los Baños, Laguna. Both main and satellite libraries are administered by professional librarian.

b. LGRRC Libraries

The network of physical libraries is connected to 17 DILG Regional Offices. These are called Local Governance Regional Resource Center (LGRRC) Libraries. All these are administered by non-professional librarians (para-librarians) designated by their own Regional Director. They perform the duties of a professional librarian except cataloging.

c. DILG Central Office Library

The network of physical libraries is extended to DILG Central Office. It is administered by professional librarian.

GOALS

1. To meet the information needs in local governance and development of LGA, DILG, LGUs, CSOs, LRIs, NGAs, private sector and the general public through the acquisition and maintenance of relevant and timely library materials.

2. To provide extensive and varied collection of materials and information of library users.

3. To continuously improve the collection and services of any library networks and contribute the to the foundation of lifelong learning in local governance.
